I have noticed that more and more projects are turning to Discourse as a way of having a knowledge base and a forum.
There is even a docs plugin for it: https://meta.discourse.org/t/discourse-docs-plugin-documentation-management/130172
Example: https://universal-blue.discourse.group/docs
I use Discourse at discuss.ocaml.org and like it quite a lot. That you can use it like a mailing list is very nice.
However, it is also quite resource intensive (on the client at least, possibly on the server, too), and I've read somewhere (sorry, I can't find the reference now) that the CEO or some other central person in the company behind Discourse has a pretty sad view on people with slow(er) devices. So with that in mind there are some sustainability issues with Discourse.
I don't know any good alternatives, though.
The first thing I think about is also resources... I remember it being quite intense, even for small fairly low-traffic forums with like 1 post per day. What are the facts here? Maybe there's a Discourse forum we can ask in? :D
