This app is getting some attention and is promising to become "stable" by next year (2025).

I think that our use-case as a collective, is to get members to not need Nextcloud for photos and videos. My experience with this is that Nextcloud's UI and the features of these apps all feel a bit like a hack, and I often encounter bugs on updates. With that said, the Memories app is reasonable alternative to Immich: https://memories.gallery/ - and after a buggy beginning, it's been running smoothly for over a year for me.

Nextcloud pros

No lock-in: Files are stored like all other files, so joining/leaving the service is much more trivial than with a specialized app.
Generic tools for sync'ing

Specialized tools are missing: Photo apps for the smartphone for instance.
